  We were approached by Gary to repair the Swift motorhome which are known to have damp problems in certain key areas. We are aware of the water ingress situation with Swift motorhomes, which is down to poor design and build. We were made aware of areas of floor which needed attention and we took steps to repair them all for the customer.
  The floor repair was specifically targeting the “floor into the sides” of the van which was badly affected by damp and this was the fault that Swifts had been made aware of.
  Swifts declined to take responsibility for the damp issues and Gary approached us to help him.
  
  During the repair process, Gary came over regularly and took pictures and videos during the repair procedure. He was happy that we were repairing all the sections that were affected by the damp. We mainly targeted the obvious damp areas around the edges of the floor which is typical for this make of motorhome.
  
  Looking from underneath the entire floor seemed sound, but with damp issues, the extent of damp & rot sometimes cannot be detected until it worsens and becomes apparent. The water can track along the ply layers and depending on the quality of the original ply can rot in areas which are unrelated to the sections of wood which are being repaired. When Gary reported that he had found an extra area of floor that was spongy, we inspected the area and found that there was indeed an additional area that needed repairing. This additional area was in the centre walk way of the motorhome which is never normally affected by damp - hence it was perceived as a slight delamination of the different layers of the floor due to wear and tear, and not damp. This meant that additional work was required and we quoted for this. Unfortunately, we could not do the extra work for free.
  
  We repaired the motorhome in 2015 and we did the specific repairs that we requested.
  In hindsight the job should have been done earlier as the level of rot was much greater than first perceived.
